Jean Top Button (17mm) — 'Frosted' Nickel Laurel Wreath Button
Included are either 5 or 15 buttons.
The average jeans uses 1 top button, while a denim jacket uses 14.
This is the classic laurel wreath button found on a lot of vintage jeans.
During WWII, US companies began rationing metals in order to support the war effort. Levi's replaced its iconic 'capped' buttons with plain doughnut buttons going down the fly. But instead than leaving the waist button blank, they stamped it with a laurel wreath to signify the peace.
This model is a silver-colored nickel. It's then given a gray ink wash to reduce the sheen. This same laurel design is also available in brass in another listing.
Note that this is the LARGER top button that goes on the jean's waistband. Note that a button-fly jean uses SMALLER buttons down the fly than at the waistband. Smaller buttons are available in a different listing in our store.
